What is the craziest thing I have done and what lesson did I learn from it?

Not wise to attempt such a dare the night before meeting your boyfriend’s parents for the first time.

Something interesting about my city that only an insider would know.

It is a common consensus for Singaporeans to reserve seats by placing a packet of tissue on it.

What am I passionate about and why?

Shoes. I believe owning a pair of good shoes is important because it will bring you to the most beautiful places on earth.

Jumped from a first floor onto a bunch of mattresses kept on the ground (no strings attached)

My curiosity is very hard working, and curiosity is always the drive for changes.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?
Leaving my school works all behind… Followed my idol from day and night.. Screamed for him no matter when…The Craziest of all: We are now good friends! However, after 10 years, no one knows who my idol is.. as.. he never get famous LOL. No matter how hard you’ve tried, there’s nothing you can control, and you can just do whatever you can and make no regret!

Accessories, Cardgames, Books, are hot in the market to teach everyone the real fun of slanguage of Hong Kong.

What are you passionate about and why?
Get to update the innovation, the trend, the cuteness of all the thing. Love the food, love the place, love the people, love the pace of life… I am love knowing the fun things happening all around the world… But Japan is still my all-time favorite.

What makes you a Bates Young Change Agent?
I love meeting people from different background and culture. I enjoy my work and I have the zeal to learn new things.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?
So far, the craziest thing I have done is paragliding! It was a fabulous experience, because one moment your feet are on the ground, touching the sand and water and then you are up in the air. It’s wonderful to see things from the top!

I was always a little scared of heights so I wasn’t too keen on paragliding. But I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It taught me that I should not say no to anything in life, who knows I might end up having a great time!

Tell us something interesting about your city that only an insider would know.
The best part about Kolkata is food! One can get any kind of food here and at a very low cost. From street food, to different cuisines…the city has it all!

What are you passionate about and why?
I am passionate about music. I am associated with an organisation that promotes folk and tribal music. In India, folk and tribal musicians are underpaid and exploited. We fund them by organising events and cultural shows.

What makes you a Bates Young Change Agent?

I’m below 30. I’m in Bates. I threatened the CEO to choose me.

Apart from this, I attempt to bring about change in my office by painting graffiti on the walls. I also stop anti social activities from taking place in office.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?

I’m honestly very boring as a person. But I once bribed an art director to execute a layout/creative which was very urgent. He didn’t budge, so this was the only way out.

I learnt that such tricks work and one should try it often or it should be made legal.

Tell us something interesting about your city that only an insider would know.

The next bomb is going to be planted at Hill Road, Bandra.

What are you passionate about and why?

I love to write about anything that inspires me. It can be about a bald head, flickering tube light, the reason why tomatoes exist, what my lousy CD is thinking and similar stuff. Writing is an extension of my identity and I see it as a release of my emotions and thoughts.

What makes you a Bates Young Change Agent?

Change happens almost everyday, whether its within the office or out there in the market. “Its never good or bad, a change is just a change.” I believe that everyone should anticipate and welcome change with a sense of excitement instead of dreading or resisting it. It is probably this attitude towards change that makes me a Bates Young Change Agent.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?

This is a tricky one. Something crazy that can be shared here will not be something crazy at all.

It will have to be the countless pranks played on others in the office. Believe it or not, it sort of releases stress.

One such incident is when one of my ex-account director decided to go for a long holiday trip. Along with my other colleagues from both the servicing and creative team, we wrapped his entire office with newspaper. Imagine his face when he returned.

Lessons learned:

1. Never forget to lock your office door.

2. If you are going to play such a prank on your boss, you have to be prepared to clean up the mess.

KL is probably one of the better cities to party and drink. The biggest perk ofcourse is that you can ‘negotiate’ your way out when you are stopped for drinking & driving. Depending on your negotiation skills, you can even sometimes get away with as little RM50.00.

What are you passionate about and why?

I never go anywhere without music. Whether its jogging with my Mp3 player or blasting away on the office speakers, I always make sure music is just a click away.

Though I can’t play any musical instruments or sing, I find myself deeply fascinated by music. The biggest thing that fascinates me the most is how music can change or elevate the mood in a single person or even a big crowd.

Perhaps the ability to tirelessly and passionately work towards making a difference.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?

My crazy stories mostly involve travelling, since I’m an avid traveller. I get this intense need to explore a new place every couple of months. On one such expedition, I along with two of my friends faked to be a photo-journalist employed with a popular newspaper, so that we could get to stay in the government outhouse for the night in a village called Mori, far off in Uttarakhand, India. We had landed in the village around dusk, following only a map after a road journey of 16 hours, without any plan, and without the knowledge that the village was remote enough to not have any accommodation, not even proper electricity.

The lesson was simple. Follow your heart, and your instincts, and there’ll always be some help at hand.

Tell us something interesting about your city that only an insider would know.

I’m not an insider myself, since I have recently shifted to Mumbai, about three years ago. However I can share an observation. Since Mumbai mostly has buildings constructed very close to each other because of lack of space, most windows open into others’ living rooms. As a result, in Mumbai, it’s quite simple to know what TV shows your neighbour is watching, what newspaper he is reading or even what he is eating for dinner.

What are you passionate about and why?

I’m passionate about travelling. A passion that developed soon after I began my advertising career. The independence allowed me to take short trips, which later culminated into longer, spontaneous, planned, adventurous and all kinds of trips I have taken over the last 8 years. Have managed to strike off 60 odd places from my list.

I guess the passion stems from the fact that I spent my childhood in Kashmir and Simla, India, both well known for their breathtaking natural beauty. The urge to connect back with nature seems to me the obvious reason for the passion. I enjoy exploring the mountains.

To talk about why I could be a Bates young change agent, I’d like to tell a story firstly. A craziest story I have done before.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?

The CRAZIEST thing I have done

hen I was just graduated from university. I just have a dream of advitising .

So I went to Leo Burnett with my CV only.

At that time, I even don’t know if they ware hiring.

Fortunately, I met miss.HR and had a little interview with her.

After that, 2 weeks later, I start my intern work in LB.

A BATES Young Change Agent

Courage - just like my past experience of job seeking. When I got a target. I dare to try my best to reach it.

Intelligence - Only work but no thinking makes the work difficult . in order to make the change,thinking of logic is very important.

IDEAS - I just attent a training one week ago, and the training reminds me the ideas is also a key point. Not only the ideas in daily work,but also the I.D.E.A.S.- the tools for thinking. And every one could find the difference things from the normal daily life

Tell us something interesting about your city that only an insider would know.

Specialty Allston - Since 19 century, specialty allstion ware build for the poor to live in. It is build by all stone.

And sometimes, the whole family have to live in one single room. Even they have to share the bathroom with their neighbour. It is a special & traditional life style in shanghai .

But now, more and more specialty allston are refitted as coffee bar, fashion salon, restautant even night club. It is becaming an special icon of modern and fashion.

You could find two difference culture: Chinece traditional culture & Westen culture both in here.

And now, with the development of China. Live back to specialty allstion means you know how to enjoy the life. And you are rich.

What are you passionate about and why?

I like to observe the people in subway. To find what they work, where they come from, even what they thinking of. It’s a kind of trainning, and also a entertainment.

With the observe and the interrogate in life and in work, I could find a better way to take the insight of people. It is a challenge. But I ike to take the chalenge.

Though my work, some people would change their habit,their life would be better. That’s why i enjoy working and keep going on.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?

Happened when I was still in High School. Saturday night me & a friend have no money left in our wallet & we ‘re starving to death! We passed by a wedding party & we cam up with this crazy idea : why don’t we just come in, act as if we’re the guest & eat for free? We’re afraid to get caught, but we’re so hungry & think it’s fun challenge. So we just did! We came in, wrote our name in the guest book & congrats the bride even though both of them looked us in puzzle! And yes, we ate for free!

The lesson is: If you have a confidence, At least you can “EAT” and continue to survive in life!!

Every big cities has an attractive landscape, Sydney with Opera house, KL with PETRONAS or Singapore with Marina Bay sands.

We do have on which an insider only know: It’s a D**K Building hehehe=).

What are you passionate about and why?

“Running”

By running I am able to transfer my mind to different places.

What makes you a Bates Young Change Agent?

It is the P.O.W.E.R to change that makes me a Young Change Agent.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?

For the One Video project, I have worked few days straight (2 or 3 days) without any hour of sleep. Not having a good physical base, I broke down far before the project to be done. Yet, eventually it is completed with additional time. Afterward, I learned that I have to “work smart before work hard.”

Tell us something interesting about your city that only an insider would know.

“Saigon coffee” is the street style of drinking coffee through which people hang out, chat and network. Although the high end coffee shops are penetrating the market intensely, “Saigon coffee” has already been a part of Saigonese’s culture.

What are you passionate about and why?

I’m passionate about digital world. I love my computer because my friend s live in it. Social Network shapes the way I share.

What makes you a Bates Young Change Agent?

I’m fascinated by the way the world of advertising is changing. I think we at Bates have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to that. I believe that our endeavor should be to create a campaign based on one big idea rather than doing a thirty second commercial and being satisfied with it. I also believe it would happen only when the entire team including account management, planning and creative has the same approach and are equally aware of what is happening around the world. If I were at the Bates top management I would make it mandatory for each and every person who steps into the office to go through the work that wins at award shows.

What is the craziest thing you have done (that you can share with us) and what lessons did you learn from it?

My ex agency was very very strict when it came to administration policies. To give you an example, you could get fired for putting your feet up on the table. Our boss in that office used to take a nap every day after lunch. A bunch of us got together and burst crackers around him while he was sleeping on a bean bag.

He woke up shocked with the entire office laughing at him. We then cut an award entry kind of an AV and put it on youtube. The guy was so embarrassed that he switched off his phone and just disappeared. He sent a sms the next day that he was going to commit suicide and blame all of us and specifically the three of us including me for this. Somehow we managed to track him down and stop him. From the time we got the sms and found him was the most harrowing time of my life.

From this incident we learnt that not everyone can take it. Choose who you are going to play a prank on very carefully.

There are at least 50 places around Mumbai which are lovely for a day trip. When I say lovely, I mean really awesome.

What are you passionate about and why?

Apart from advertising I’m deeply passionate about cinema. World cinema interests me a lot. I’m also a close follower of how the Mumbai film industry is churning out some really good cinema and not just the typical Bollywood film.

I watch at least 15 movies a week.
